Overview
Housing & Transport are seeking to establish a pool of Housing and Transport Officers for permanent and fixed-term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2026 and up to the end of May, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
The Housing and Transport team is part of Staffing Services and is responsible for the provision of related support services to staff in rural and remote areas. These services include provision of suitable, subsidised housing in areas of need, establishing contracts for the removal of employees' furniture and motor vehicles and payment of various allowances.
Responsibilities
* Assess, calculate and pay staff claims for travel, relocation and utilities subsidies
* Book, manage and pay staff accommodation and travel
* Coordinate and manage vacant property utilities accounts
* Administer utilities invoicing
* Manage and distribute incoming correspondence and claims
* Maintain data entry and effective record‐keeping
* Assist in property management services, including allocating subsidised housing to teachers, monitoring housing vacancy levels, assessing needs for additional housing, maintaining accommodation databases, administering rent charges and invoices for leased properties, and calculating and arranging salary deductions for rent
Work Conditions
Availability of leave is limited during the peak operational period, occurring annually from 1 November to 28 February.
Qualifications
* Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
* Well‐developed computer skills, including a working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets and word processing
* Ability to interpret and apply industrial instruments, policies and guidelines

Eligibility
* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment
