Employment Type: Full-time
Salary: $76,000 – $85,000 + 12% Superannuation

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Chef to join our kitchen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality Indian cuisine, maintaining consistency and authenticity, and supporting the overall kitchen operations in line with business objectives.


Key Responsibilities and Duties

* Planning and developing menus in consultation with management, ensuring authenticity of Indian cuisine while meeting customer preferences
* Estimating food and labour costs and ordering food supplies accordingly
* Preparing, seasoning, and cooking a wide range of Indian dishes using traditional cooking techniques
* Monitoring food quality at all stages of preparation and presentation to ensure consistency and high standards
* Demonstrating cooking techniques and advising kitchen staff on proper food preparation and cooking procedures
* Adapting menu items to accommodate dietary requirements and customer requests
* Ensuring kitchen staff follow standard recipes and presentation guidelines
* Checking the quality and freshness of raw ingredients and ensuring proper storage of food supplies
* Ensuring cleanliness and correct operation of kitchen equipment before and during service
* Liaising with suppliers to order, receive, and manage stock as per business requirements
* Enforcing food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards in accordance with Australian regulations
* Recruiting, training, supervising, and coordinating kitchen staff
* Ensuring efficient kitchen operations and consistent performance during peak service periods
* Assisting in the overall management of kitchen operations to support business growth


Qualifications and Experience Requirements

* Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
* Minimum 3 year of relevant full-time work experience as a Chef
* Proven experience in preparing authentic Indian cuisine
* Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations
