Wood is currently searching for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team based in one of our offices in either Brisbane, Perth or Melbourne. Our ideal candidate will join a team of engineering specialists working within the field of engineering dynamics specifically focusing on managing vibration induced fatigue risks in Static Equipment Systems.
This is a practical consulting role combining hands-on field work and office-based analysis and reporting. In this role you will demonstrate your technical interests, particularly resolving the causes and effects of vibration in static equipment and structures in process plants, including piping and instrument tubing. Working enthusiastically, you will provide engineering solutions and services improving the integrity, reliability and performance of our client's facilities.

You will be contributing to the delivery of Engineering excellence through:
1. Assist with vibration-related field inspections/surveys and troubleshooting investigations associated with piping and tubing attached to process plant
2. A keen eye for detail and the ability to quickly interpret key client evidence
3. Prepare written reports of investigation findings and recommend methods for rectification
4. Maintain and develop new client relationships
5. Develop systems and processes for continuous improvement
6. Provide innovative engineering solutions within a customer focused and service oriented framework
You will demonstrate:
7. Experience with piping vibration or structural dynamics assessments
8. Familiarity with relevant piping codes and / or modelling based analysis techniques such as FEA
9. Strong communication skills, technically curious, and able to provide a customer focused service
10. Ability to work within project budget, schedule, and resource constraints
11. Strong competency in English literacy, effective report writing skills, and computer proficient
12. Exposure to site work and flexibility to take on site travel to client locations throughout Australia when required
13. Exposure to design, inspection, or integrity/reliability management of machinery packages ( reciprocating and screw compressors, pumps) will be viewed favourably
14. Exposure to digital tools/ coding / data handling ( using Python, SQL, Power BI Visualisations) will be viewed favourably
15. Familiarity with process and piping drawings such as P&IDs and isometrics

To be considered for this role we would ideally like to attract candidates with an equivalent of five years of industry experience relevant to the role. We are keen to connect with applicants who have a diverse range of skills including
16. Engineering degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics
17. 5-10 years of relevant engineering experience ( Mining / Oil & Gas / Renewables)
18. Vibration analysis and/or fatigue risk studies involving pulsation modelling, FEA, AIV/FIV screening, etc
19. Field-based vibration troubleshooting using tools and techniques such as strain-gauging, Motion amplification, multi-channel data collection etc
20. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong team relationships
21. Strong competency in English literacy with demonstrated experience in effective report writing
22. Strong computer proficiency across a range of analysis software
