Offer description

A specialist opportunity has arisen for a Statutory Planner to join a premier independent planning and environmental consultancy. This firm is highly regarded for managing complex, high-stakes development applications that require a sophisticated understanding of the Victorian Planning Provisions and legislative frameworks.

Unlike high-volume roles, this position focuses on quality over quantity, allowing a dedicated planner to manage intricate applications with the time and technical support required for excellence.

The Role

Working within a team of industry-leading experts, this role involves navigating the complexities of statutory approvals for a diverse portfolio, including renewable energy, data centre, major residential, commercial, and industrial developments.

Key Responsibilities:

* Permit Application Management: Lead the preparation and coordination of complex planning permit applications, ensuring all documentation is of the highest technical standard.
* VPP Interpretation: Provide accurate and nuanced advice on the Victorian Planning Provisions, local planning schemes, and relevant state policies.
* Technical Reporting: Draft comprehensive planning reports, including Site Analysis and Design Responses.
* Stakeholder and client liaison: Build true and meaningful relationships and engagement with project teams and clients.

This role is suited to a planner who enjoys the "fine print" and takes pride in the technical accuracy of their submissions.

* Experience: 3–6 years of experience in a statutory planning role, either within a private consultancy or a fast‐paced local government environment.
* Victorian Planning Expertise: A strong working knowledge of the various Victorian planning schemes.
* Attention to Detail: Exceptional report‐writing skills and the ability to identify potential planning risks early in the application process.
* Communication: The ability to explain complex statutory requirements to clients and project stakeholders with clarity and professional confidence.
* Qualifications: A tertiary degree in Urban & Regional Planning or a related field.

Why Consider This Firm?

* Technical Mentorship: Work alongside some of the most respected planning experts in the state, offering an unparalleled environment for professional development.
* Resourced for Success: This consultancy values precision; you will have access to in‐house specialists (ecologists and environmental scientists) to help build robust applications.
