Community Mental Health Clinicians - Making a Real Difference in People's Lives

What You'll Be Doing
YMHI Senior Clinicians will provide trauma informed, culturally protected, intensive therapeutic interventions and integrated psychosocial responses to young people experiencing complex and severe mental health concerns. They will also provide leadership, mentorship and supervision to ensure the delivery of strengths based and recovery oriented mental health care and treatment.
The YMHI is a new youth mental health service aimed at improving early access to care for 12 – 25 years presenting to headspace services with severe and complex mental health needs. The YMHI will enhance youth mental health supports in Southern NSW by improving integration across services.
YMHI senior clinicians will be part of the local SNSWLHD Community Mental Health teams, with time co-located within headspace centres. They will collaborate with partner agencies, develop streamlined referral pathways and ensure timely transition of care between partner services.
Selection Criteria
Relevant tertiary qualifications and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) for Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapists or Psychologists, or eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) for Social Workers. Significant clinical experience in child and youth mental health is highly desirable.
Extensive postgraduate clinical experience and knowledge in evidence-based mental health assessment and treatment for young people and their carers, with understanding of trauma informed care.
Ability to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement to manage complex clinical care and service delivery issues.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a multidisciplinary team to improve consumer care and outcomes.
Effective interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal communication, and competence in information technology systems.
Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes, and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with staff.
Ability to provide clinical supervision and support to staff and students.
Evidence of a current unrestricted driver's licence and ability to drive/travel as required (may involve long distances and overnight stays).
