Muir is a Tasmanian-based maritime manufacturing and engineering company producing world-renowned anchoring equipment for vessels ranging from recreational boats to superyachts, commercial and defence applications.
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our experienced engineering team at our Kingston workshop.
This is a hands-on role combining design, engineering, and close collaboration with production, offering exposure to major marine equipment projects and ongoing R&D.
The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Team Lead, you will be involved in:
* Mechanical design and development of anchoring systems
* 3D modelling and detailed design using Autodesk Inventor
* Production of 2D manufacturing drawings and BOMs
* 3D printing and prototyping
* Engineering calculations, equipment sizing, and basic FEA
* Supporting production, testing, and continuous improvement
* Working with SAP Business One and Microsoft Office tools
About You
* Engineering or design qualification (Mechanical preferred)
* Varying levels of experience encouraged to apply (graduate to senior)
* Strong understanding of mechanical assemblies and manufactured equipment
* Solid mechanical design and drafting skills
* Experience with 3D CAD software (Inventor preferred; SolidWorks and alternatives considered)
* Ability to produce clear, workshop-ready drawings
* A proactive and hands-on mindset and willingness to work closely with production teams
