Qualified Horticulturist
MJ Landscapes & Maintenance | Gold Coast | Full-time (38 hrs)
MJ Landscapes & Maintenance is hiring a Qualified Horticulturist to join our Maintenance Department. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in plant health, presentation, safety, and delivering a premium client experience on every visit.
About the role
You'll be responsible for premium maintenance delivery across a mix of sites, including:
* Maintenance delivery: mowing, edging, pruning, hedging, planting, general garden maintenance
* Plant health and seasonal programs: monitoring plant health, diagnosing issues, and carrying out fertilising and weed programs correctly
* Quality and presentation: sharp edges, clean finishes, no debris left behind, final walk-through before leaving
* Client communication: professional onsite communication, same-day escalation of issues, recommendations and updates (including photos where required)
* Planning and efficiency: flag overruns early, ensure materials and equipment readiness, plan ahead for upcoming work
* Reporting: confirm daily job completion, report variations/additional works, communicate incidents/issues immediately
* Equipment and vehicle care: keep tools, machinery, and vehicles clean, organised, and maintained
* Safety and compliance: PPE, safe work practices, and correct chemical handling at all times
What we're looking for (requirements)
* Cert III in Horticulture (AHC30716) or equivalent (Cert IV highly regarded)
* Chemical handling competency and current ACDC licence
* QLD agricultural chemical distribution compliance (Chemical User Agreement)
* 2 to 5+ years industry experience with strong plant knowledge
* White Card (First Aid preferred)
* Valid Australian driver's licence (MR and towing trailers preferred)
* Chainsaw and EWP tickets (where relevant to the work)
