The Trainee Sonographer position is part of the Department of Medical Imaging (DMI) at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH), the state's major clinical teaching and research centre.
The team provides comprehensive medical imaging services to Southern Tasmania and statewide in some specialties.
Within DMI, the Ultrasound Section performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations for all referring medical specialties, supporting patient care across diverse clinical areas.

The Role:
The Trainee Sonographer will:
Be trained in ultrasound in order to provide an effective and efficient ultrasound service for the inpatients and outpatients of the Medical Imaging Department at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH).
Perform ultrasound examinations under the supervision of the Senior Specialist Sonographer and the Tutor Sonographer, in accordance with organisational policies and professional codes of conduct.
You will need to:
Undertake, ideally within a two (2) year period, an Australasian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR) accredited postgraduate ultrasound course.
Perform, under supervision, ultrasound examinations and interventional procedures associated with general, paediatric, obstetric, gynaecological, musculoskeletal, emergency and vascular examinations for patients referred to the Medical Imaging Department.
Ensure all clerical aspects of a patient examination are completed accurately and in a timely fashion, including entry on the patient information management system, scanning of worksheet and checking of images on PACS.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term full time, shift worker position, working 76hours per fortnight, commencing 15 December **** until 15 December ****.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary:
$73,834 to $111,364 per annum.
Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of ****.
Salary Packaging:
You'll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
A market allowance of 20% of the base salary is applicable to this role.

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
Eligible for enrolment for training in diagnostic ultrasound with an accredited university and either hold or be eligible to attain current status of "Accredited Student Sonographer" (ASS) with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry
Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment.
It is the employee's responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change.
This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.
