Wise Eyes Optometrists is looking for a part-time/casual (approximately 15 to 20 hours per week) Optical Sales Assistant to join our friendly team at our practice in Highfields.
Wise Eyes Optometrists is a professional, friendly, patient-focused, independent optical practice. We are family owned and have been providing exceptional service for the eyecare needs for the people of Highfields for over 18 years.
About the Role
This role includes a variety of tasks, combining both retail and administrative skills and duties. You will be working closely with the Optometrist in assisting patients, to provide excellent customer service. We pride ourselves on taking the extra time to listen to our patients needs, in order to provide the best possible eyecare solutions. The position will consist of regular hours each week, however it would be preferable if the successful candidate could be flexible with hours and cover full time hours for other staff on leave from time to time.
Key Responsibilities
* Administrative Tasks: Use our computer program (we have paperless record cards) to make eye test appointment bookings, process health fund and Medicare claims, and manage and update customer records efficiently.
* Frame and Lens Selections: Assist customers in selecting frames and lenses that they not only love, but also provide them with the best visual outcome for their individual needs.
* Checking Lens Prescriptions and Quality: Use our automated lens measurer (Vertometer) to check the current prescriptions of patients spectacles before an eye test and also when their new spectacles arrive.
* Repairs and Frame Adjustments: Make minor repairs to spectacle frames and fit frames to ensure optimal comfort and vision.
* General Practice Duties: Mark up and manage inventory and take pride in maintaining the presentation of the practice.
What We're Looking For
Any previous experience in the Optical, Retail or Administrative areas is preferred but not essential. However, of more importance we would like you to:

* possess excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills
* be eager to learn new skills
* have an interest in fashion, eyecare or healthcare
