As an experienced Application Engineer, this is an excellent opportunity for you to leverage your technical expertise and project management skills.
You will work closely with both the sales team and external clients to design, cost, and deliver monitoring solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
In addition, you will also work closely with our system integration teams to support the execution of system integration activities.
Ideally, you will require the following.
This role demands a high level of competency in mechanical or mechatronics engineering, with a focus on developing concept and detail designs, producing detailed drawings, and ensuring timely delivery of cost-effective, high-quality solutions.
You will collaborate with multiple internal departments, offering engineering support for custom and standard systems while maintaining cost control and quality standards.
You will also need a deep understanding of relevant standards, regulations, and quality assurance systems.
Key Responsibilities – Project Management & Technical Design
Manage assigned projects, ensuring completion within time, cost, and quality expectations.
Interact with the sales team and external clients to clarify project requirements using internal tools such as application questionnaires.
Conduct application assessments to select or design fit-for-purpose monitoring solutions.
Develop concept and detail designs adhering to relevant standards, regulations, and quality requirements.
Generate and update layout drawings, system schematics, and provide technical support for non-standard systems.
Create and manage Bill of Materials (BOM) for accurate costing and resource allocation.
System Design & Development
Provide engineering support to the Systems Department, including creating detailed design and manufacturing drawings.
Focus on modular design and cost reduction without sacrificing functionality or quality.
Assist in engineering review and sign-off for quotations and designs, ensuring alignment with project goals.
Ensure all designs are documented according to Acoem standards and industry regulations.
Customer & Stakeholder Support
Provide technical support for project tenders and quotations.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the smooth transition from concept to detailed design and manufacturing.
Maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including internal departments, external customers, and management.
Provide technical support to the sales team in client-facing meetings.
Qualifications
What skills, qualifications & experience would you need to be successful in this role?
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technical Skills:
Demonstrated proficiency in CAD (Specifically SolidWorks).
Experience in creating detailed and accurately costed Bill of Materials (BOM).
Competency in cost estimation and project management.
Experience
2+ years direct environmental monitoring experience highly regarded.
2+ years of operational, design, or application engineering experience in a similar industry.
Demonstrated experience in project management.
Track record in offering technical support to internal and external stakeholders.
Proven ability to create training material and deliver technical training.
