About the Department

The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.

About the role

The Executive Director, Government Services Policy and Strategy is responsible for providing leadership and oversight for DGS' digital and government services capability, working in partnership with senior leaders in DGS and across government. The role encompasses a broad remit of government services, including the whole-of-Victorian-Government procurement framework, whole of Victorian government accommodation reform, digital and strategic policy, artificial intelligence (AI) policy, telecommunications policy, and policy relating to registration, records management, digital identity, and verifiable credentials.

About you

To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:

* Demonstrated senior executive experience, with a proven track record of leading and motivating multi-disciplinary teams of professionals, building positive, constructive and high-performance workplace cultures and strong staff engagement, and modelling of organisational values.

* Proven experience and demonstrated capacity to identify and address emerging policy issues in a complex and sensitive environment.

* Proven influencing, negotiation and relationship-management skills in an environment requiring highly developed interpersonal skills, and a proven capacity for highly effective communication with a range of government and non-government stakeholders.
* Demonstrated effective people management skills and experience to support and create the conditions for highly-functioning, productive and engaged multi-disciplinary teams.
* Outstanding communication and negotiation skills with the ability to facilitate collaboration and achieve desired outcomes in a complex and sensitive environment.
