About the Older Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (OAMHWS)
The OAMHWS at Monash Health includes Acute Aged Psychiatry Inpatient Units and Community Mental Health Teams comprised of Aged Psychiatry Assessment Teams, a Residential Support Program (for mainstream nursing home residents), a Psychogeriatric Nursing Home InReach Team and an Intensive Community Treatment team. The Service currently employs 13 Consultant Psychiatrists across its two key sectors (based at the Kingston Centre and Dandenong Hospital/ Endeavour Hills) and has an active research and training program. There are opportunities for involvement in registrar teaching and examination preparation, and for participation in a wide variety of research opportunities commensurate with interest and experience. The Service has close links with the Monash University Department of Psychiatry. Applications should include an updated Curriculum Vitae and names of three professional referees. Applicants must be a Fellow of RANZCP or equivalent and must be registrable in Victoria.
About the Role
Monash Health is seeking a 0.5‐1.0 EFT Consultant Psychiatrist with an interest in joining its OAMHWS, Mental Health Program. The Mental Health Program is one of the largest providers of clinical mental health services in Victoria. The successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary team setting to provide the clinical leadership and vision needed to develop a strong recovery‐oriented practice in the care of older adults living with mental illness, including behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia. Patients are referred from a variety of sources including the OAMHWS triage service, medical and surgical wards, residential care services, and emergency departments. Monash Health is committed to providing high quality of care to its patients in the program and this position would meet demands in the rapidly growing south‐east region of Melbourne. There is excellent peer support and professional development opportunities, and Monash Health encourages service leadership through a dual governance model. Monash Health recognises the importance of the Consultant Psychiatrist in service planning and development.
