About the role
We are currently growing and seeking a financial reporting specialist to join the team at Manager or Assistant Manager level. This is a full-time, Canberra-based role where you will utilise your skills, experience and business acumen to deliver high quality work across a range of client projects and engagements. This role would be highly suited for a 1st mover from a Big 4 or mid-tier firm who have experience in external and/or internal audit and wants to take the next step in their career. Your duties will include but not be limited to:
* Preparing and reviewing complex financial statements and associated working papers
* Execution and/or oversight of financial accounting and reporting processes including monthly close cycles and associated internal controls
* Providing expert advice and guidance to clients on accounting matters ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements
* Collaborating with clients to implement, review and maintain efficient accounting processes and controls
* Engagement with various stakeholders such as executives, audit committees and external audit teams
* Mentoring and developing junior members of the team
About You
Along with a strong work ethic, you will have:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related field (required)
* Relevant work experience of 4-5+ years and typically studying towards or have obtained CA/CPA
* Proven expertise in preparing financial statements and other complex accounting reports
* Strong working knowledge of relevant accounting standards and regulations
* Must be eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for Commonwealth Government work (incl. Australian citizenship)
* Strong attention to detail, curiosity and a pro-active approach to implementing effective internal controls.
* Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring junior team members
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients.
* Experience working with or in Commonwealth entities is highly desirable
