Job Description
As a Senior SCADA Engineer, you'll lead the design, development, and ongoing support of SCADA and OT systems used to operate and monitor critical infrastructure assets.
This is a senior, hands‑on role combining technical delivery, system ownership, and mentoring within an operational environment.
* Designing and maintaining SCADA system architectures, including HMIs, historians, and communications
* Developing and configuring SCADA platforms (Ignition, AVEVA/Wonderware, WinCC, VTScada or similar)
* Programming and integrating PLCs, RTUs and field devices
* Implementing and supporting industrial protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, OPC UA, and MQTT
* Leading SCADA upgrades and modernisation projects from design through to commissioning
* Supporting FAT, SAT, site commissioning, and operational handover
* Ensuring systems are secure, reliable and highly available in line with OT cybersecurity standards
* Assisting with OT network configuration, including remote access and secure connectivity
* Troubleshooting complex SCADA, PLC, and telemetry issues in live environments
* Producing and reviewing technical documentation, including FDS and design specs
* Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
* Working closely with internal teams, project managers, and external vendors
The Successful Applicant
* Proven experience working as a SCADA or Control Systems Engineer in an operational environment
* Strong hands‑on experience with SCADA platforms such as Ignition, AVEVA/Wonderware, WinCC, VTScada, or similar
* Solid background integrating PLCs, RTUs and field devices
* Experience using industrial communication protocols such as DNP3, Modbus and OPC UA
* Understanding of OT systems, networks and cybersecurity principles
* Experience delivering SCADA upgrades, system enhancements, or new implementations
* Ability to troubleshoot complex SCADA, PLC and telemetry issues
* Experience producing technical documentation such as Functional Design Specifications
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a range of stakeholders
* Willingness to provide technical guidance or mentoring to other engineers
