The
Turret Systems Engineering Lead
provides end‑to‑end technical leadership across the full lifecycle of turreted weapon systems. This role owns the system architecture and technical baseline, guides multidisciplinary engineering teams, and ensures system performance, compliance and certification. You will lead system design, modelling, subsystem integration, verification and validation and serve as the primary technical interface for customers, suppliers and internal engineering stakeholders. Primary Duties
Lead the systems engineering lifecycle for turreted weapon systems, from concept development to verification, validation and certification. Develop and manage requirements, system architecture and system-level design. Provide technical leadership for subsystem integration, including drives, sensors, fire control systems, stabilization and mechanical/electrical interfaces. Oversee system modelling, analysis and trade studies. Manage and maintain the technical baseline and engineering documentation. Lead verification and validation planning and execution, including test readiness and system acceptance. Support design reviews, engineering governance, and technical decision-making. Act as the primary technical interface with customers, suppliers and partner organisations. Identify, analyse and mitigate technical risks. Provide mentoring and technical guidance to engineering teams and junior engineers. Support project planning, scheduling, and cost/schedule assessments from a technical perspective. Qualifications
Mandatory Degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent. Strong background in systems engineering principles and lifecycle management. Proven experience delivering complex defence, weapon system, or turret system projects. Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams. Experience with requirements management, system modelling, and engineering governance. Degree qualifications in Systems Engineering or related field. Familiarity with defence standards, safety frameworks, and certification processes. Experience with land combat systems, fire control, or stabilized weapon platforms. Experience
Experience in systems engineering, product development, or complex engineering environments. Hands-on experience with subsystem integration, testing, and V&V activities. Proven involvement in system architecture development and technical baseline management. Experience communicating technical information to senior stakeholders, customers, and suppliers. Skills and Key Attributes
Strong leadership and technical decision-making capability. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to manage ambiguity, solve complex problems, and drive technical outcomes. High attention to detail with a disciplined approach to engineering quality and governance. Collaborative mindset with the ability to guide and mentor junior engineers. Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and software interactions within complex weapon systems.
