About the Role
We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Extruder Operator to join our dynamic production team at our Wetherill Park facility.
This is not your typical machine operator position – we need someone who can think on their feet, problem-solve independently, and take ownership of the entire extrusion process from start to finish.
If you're a hands-on professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys the challenge of multi-tasking across various production responsibilities, this opportunity is for you.
What You'll Be Doing
This role goes well beyond simply running a line. You'll be responsible for:
* Operating and managing the complete extrusion process with minimal supervision
* Monitoring product quality and making real-time adjustments to maintain specifications
* Diagnosing and resolving minor operational issues as they arise
* Conducting equipment changeovers and ensuring optimal machine performance
* Completing all required paperwork, production logs, and quality documentation
* Packing finished products, printing labels, and ensuring accurate labelling
* Performing routine maintenance checks and preventative care
* Collaborating with other departments to maintain smooth production flow
* Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment
What We're Looking For
Essential Requirements:
* Proven experience as an Extruder Operator in food manufacturing (minimum 3+ years preferred)
* Strong technical knowledge of extrusion processes, parameters, and troubleshooting
* Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically under pressure
* Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
* Hands‑on approach with a proactive "get it done" attitude
* Physical fitness and ability to perform manual handling tasks
* Strong organizational skills for managing paperwork and documentation
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Flexibility to work various shifts as required
Highly Regarded:
* Experience in a fast‑paced, high‑volume production environment
* Understanding of food safety standards and HACCP principles
* Forklift license
