District Coordinator (Heart of Husky Association)

Position Title: District Coordinator – Heart of Husky

Employer: Heart of Husky Association Inc.

Location: Huskisson, NSW (Shoalhaven region)

Employment Type: [Full-time / Part-time – to be confirmed]

Contract Term: Funded by Uptown Grant Program (initial 9 months, with potential extension subject to funding and performance)

Contracted wage: $80,000.

Reports To: Heart of Husky Board / Steering Committee

About Heart Of Husky

The Heart of Husky Association is a collective of local businesses, community members, and stakeholders working together to promote Huskisson as a vibrant year-round destination. Supported by the NSW Government’s Uptown Grant Program, we are delivering events, activations, and marketing initiatives—including the Mini Vivid Light Show, Sculptures by the Bay, and the Heart Festival—to showcase Huskisson’s natural beauty, cultural identity, and hospitality.

The District Coordinator will play a central role in bringing this vision to life.

Role Purpose

The District Coordinator is responsible for managing, activating, and promoting the Heart of Husky district. This includes coordinating stakeholders, delivering community engagement, managing events and marketing campaigns, and ensuring the effective use of Uptown Grant funding to grow Huskisson’s profile as a cultural and tourism hub.

Key Responsibilities

Sponsorship & Partnerships

- Develop and implement a sponsorship strategy to secure financial and in-kind support for Heart of Husky events and initiatives.
- Actively seek partnerships with local businesses, tourism operators, and regional organisations.
- Prepare sponsorship proposals and tailored packages to attract new sponsors.
- Manage relationships with sponsors, ensuring delivery of agreed benefits such as branding, promotions, and activation opportunities.
- Report on sponsorship outcomes and demonstrate return on investment to stakeholders.
- Coordination & Leadership
- Act as the central point of contact for the Heart of Husky Association.
- Manage day-to-day operations of the district project, ensuring grant deliverables are met.
- Coordinate with local businesses, community groups, Shoalhaven City Council, and the Office of the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner.
- Provide regular reporting on budgets, milestones, and project outcomes.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships with business owners, tourism operators, artists, cultural organisations, and community leaders.
- Organise and facilitate meetings, workshops, and networking sessions for the Heart of Husky Association.
- Foster collaboration between members to achieve a unified district vision.
- Marketing & Communications
- Oversee branding, promotion, and storytelling of the Heart of Husky district.
- Manage social media channels, newsletters, and website updates.
- Coordinate design, printing, and distribution of promotional materials.
- Liaise with media and prepare press releases when required.
- Events & Activations
- Assist with planning, logistics, and delivery of signature Heart of Husky events (e.g., light installations, arts festivals, cultural activations).
- Secure permits, contracts, and compliance with local council regulations.
- Work with contractors, artists, and suppliers to deliver engaging public activations.
- Financial & Administrative Management
- Manage budgets in line with Uptown Grant funding requirements.
- Track expenditure, maintain financial records, and ensure transparent reporting.
- Support sponsorship and partnership development, including managing sponsor benefits and obligations.
- Prepare reports for the Heart of Husky Board and funding partners.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential

- Demonstrated experience in project management, community development, or precinct coordination.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build consensus across diverse groups.
- Proven experience in event coordination, marketing, or tourism promotion.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Robust organisational skills, with ability to manage budgets, deadlines, and reporting.
- High level of initiative, adaptability, and problem-solving capacity.

Desirable

- Knowledge of the Shoalhaven region and Huskisson’s cultural/tourism landscape.
- Experience working with government grants or public sector projects.
- Familiarity with arts, culture, or hospitality industries.
- Experience in fundraising, sponsorship, or partnership development.

Employment Details

- Remuneration: Commensurate with skills and experience.
- Hours: Flexible; may include evenings or weekends during activations and events.
- Contract Term: 9 months (with potential renewal subject to funding).
- Location: Based in Huskisson with some travel across Shoalhaven for stakeholder engagement.
