Clearwater Partners is thrilled to be working with The Tea Centre, a luxury Australian owned retailer of high end tea, to find their next General Manager to lead the company through an exciting period of growth. The Tea Centre has 10 high end retail outlets around Australia with ambitions to grow to 20 over the next 3 years. They are an omni-channel retailer and also sell their Tea into luxury hotels and other high-end hospitality groups.
The General Manager partners closely with the Owner and Executive Director with full responsibility for the P&L, demonstrating strong financial and operational discipline. The position is tasked with leading the company through this next growth phase which includes increasing the retail footprint, increasing online sales as a share of overall revenue, creating increased customer loyalty and experiences and building a talented and engaged workforce that demonstrates a strong connection to the brand.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
* Strategic & Commercial Leadership: Translate the company's growth ambition and strategic plan into a clear, executable 3–5 year roadmap.
* Financial & Operational Performance: Owning full P&L performance with clear focus on: Gross margin optimisation, Cost discipline, Labour productivity, Inventory turn and working capital efficiency
* Procurement & Supply Chain Leadership: Provide strategic oversight of sourcing and supplier relationships. Negotiate commercial terms with local and international suppliers.
* Retail Excellence & Expansion: Elevate retail standards to category-leading levels ensuring consistency of customer experience across all stores.
* Digital & Brand Growth: Protect and enhance The Tea Centre's premium brand positioning
* Leadership & Organisational Development: Lead the organisation through a period of structured professionalisation and increasing accountability including building a high-performance leadership culture.

And have the following skills and experiences:
* Proven experience in a multi-site specialty retail or premium consumer brand.
* Experience in a senior leadership role (e.g. Head of Retail, Head of Operations, Commercial Manager, Deputy GM) within a larger organisation.
* Strong commercial acumen with full P&L understanding.
* Demonstrated success scaling stores and/or digital channels.
* Experience leading cross-functional teams.
* Strong negotiation and supplier management capability.
* Experience implementing systems and process discipline.
* High personal ambition and appetite to build and lead a national growth story.
* Tertiary qualification in business, commerce or similar; MBA advantageous but not required.
