The Role
The Investment Tax Manager, Investment Operations provides end to end oversight of investment tax operations, ensuring all Investment Operations activities meet tax compliance obligations. Reporting to the Head of Investment Operations, you will be accountable for maintaining strong, well controlled tax processes and delivering accurate, timely statutory and regulatory reporting in accordance with legislative and policy requirements.
What You'll Do
* Business Ownership for Investment Operations Tax obligations within the Tax Policy Framework.
* Maintain and enhance the fund's tax risk & governance framework, including policy updates, control testing and readiness for ATO engagement (reviews, rulings, inquiries).
* Work with external consultants to identify and manage tax compliance obligations of the fund's investments and investment vehicles.
* Ensure ongoing tax compliance in Australia, India, US, Taiwan and other offshore jurisdictions, as required.
* Manage the investment operations tax review process for all new recommended investments and divestments ensuring ongoing tax processes are operationalised as part of investment implementation activities.
* Maintain the Investment Vehicle Tax register for new investments and divestments.
* Complete tax assessment for new markets (eg. local tax agent requirement) and where required, establish local tax agent arrangements in conjunction with Legal.
* Ensure appropriate controls remain in place so that the ATO third party data guidelines are consistently met, and so that taxes are appropriately reflected in daily unit prices.
* In cooperation with the investment operations team leadership, respond to market needs and trends through the delivery of innovative project design and architecture.
* Ensure strong and effective relationships with the custodian, asset consultant and other key stakeholders to support growth.
About You
You combine strategic thinking with strong analytical capability and bring the following key skills:
* Bachelor's degree in law, finance, taxation, business, accounting or investment valuations, with 10+ years' experience since qualification.
* Strong background within the investment area including understanding of Public and Private Markets.
* Strong risk and compliance experience including current knowledge of the superannuation industry, APRA/ASIC/ATO regulation and legislative frameworks.
* Experience in working with offshore investment vehicles, including foreign hybrids.
* Tax compliance experience, or experience in working with tax professionals to ensure ongoing compliance of offshore and local vehicles.
* Master's qualification (or equivalent) with specialisation in tax, investments, data science or finance is nice to have but not essential.
