Design & Integration Specialist Brisbane The Role Airbus is seeking a Design & Integration Specialist to act as a primary technical authority within our Airframe Equipment and Integration Function. This role is a critical link between regional operational requirements and Airbus's global engineering standards, ensuring that complex modifications for the civil helicopter market are technically viable, commercially competitive, and fully compliant with international certifications (EASA, FAA, and CASA). Beyond technical execution, you will drive digital transformation within engineering workflows and foster a culture of excellence through the mentorship of the next generation of aerospace engineers. Key Responsibilities Lead helicopter development projects using a systems engineering philosophy, ensuring alignment with global Airbus processes. Apply extensive expertise in mission systems and equipment development, working both as an integration designer and a systems engineer. Develop, review, and approve design engineering tasks, modifications, and Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) in accordance with delegated authority. Enhance engineering tools and streamline data processes to enable new business through digital initiatives. Facilitate communication between regional offices and the central design office, managing stakeholder expectations and contract KPIs. Actively participate in the improvement of the Engineering Management System and lead the development of internal talent. Required Expertise Experience & Knowledge: 15 years of professional experience in a Design Office environment, specifically in equipment design (inboard/outboard systems). Comprehensive knowledge of FAA, EASA, and CASA legislation and industry best practices. Technical Depth: Proven application of vibration analysis, basic structural analysis, environmental qualification, aeroelastics, and fluid/thermal dynamics. Autonomous in CATIA V5 for developing models (Sheet Metal, Machined Components, Assemblies) and 2D drawings. Ability to manage complex system requirements specifications and an understanding of engineering cost drivers. Qualifications: Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or a compatible accredited discipline. Ability to obtain Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) or equivalent state-based registration. Core Competencies Ability to perform complex testing and evaluation, making critical judgment calls on the incorporation and release of designs. A confident communicator capable of conveying complex technical messages clearly and persuasively to internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to self-direct task management in a high-workload environment while maintaining a customer-service mindset. A commitment to safety, quality, and the Airbus Code of Conduct.
