About The Role

* Liaise with product and platform leaders to ensure seamless integration with shared data assets, infrastructure, and services.
* Establish best practices in software, data, and AI engineering – including security, compliance, and efficient development and deployment.
* Foster a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement, exploring emerging AI, agentic, and generative capabilities responsibly.

The Data and AI Team is responsible for harnessing data, artificial intelligence, and applied engineering to maintain Coles' position at the forefront of modern retail. They operate as a centralized development and enablement function within Coles Technology, uniting product, engineering, and platform capabilities to deliver intelligent solutions.
What You'll Need
* Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Possess strong leadership and strategic planning skills, with experience in managing domain-specific squads of software engineers, data engineers, ML engineers, data scientists, and UX designers.
* Demonstrate expertise in translating product vision into engineered outcomes, ensuring measurable business value aligned with corporate priorities.
* Showcase ability to integrate AI and ML capabilities into operational systems and applications, embedding intelligence into how Coles plans, moves, and serves.
* Hold strong technical knowledge and understanding of software, data, and AI engineering principles, including security, compliance, and efficient development and deployment.
* Evidence of collaboration with Product and Platform leaders to ensure seamless integration with shared data assets, infrastructure, and services.
