About the business and the role
Here at Urban X Steel, we design and manufacture custom steel windows and doors and bespoke architectural steel features for residential & commercial projects.
We are seeking a hardworking, reliable and trustworthy Steel Fabricator for an ongoing full-time role based out of our factory in North Geelong for start in Q2 2026.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week). Overtime may be available when required.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, values consistency, and wants stable long-term employment within a growing business.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
* Fabrication of steel windows, doors, balustrades & architectural steel work
* MIG welding (TIG experience highly regarded)
* Cutting, grinding, drilling and assembly of fabricated components
* Reading and interpreting drawings and shop plans
* Preparing jobs for installation
* Maintaining a clean and organised workshop
* Assisting with workflow and meeting production deadlines
Requirements:
* Trade qualification in Metal Fabrication (preferred but not essential for the right candidate)
* Minimum 4+ years fabrication experience
* Strong MIG welding ability
* Ability to read and interpret drawings confidently
* Current VIC driver’s licence
* Forklift licence
* Physical fitness (manual handling required)
* Confident and safe use of hand and power tools
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
* Strong attention to detail
* Exceptional work ethic and reliability
* Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
* Commitment to maintaining workshop standards and OH&S compliance
