ABOUT MARK HUGHES FOUNDATION
The Mark Hughes Foundation was founded in 2014 by Mark and Kirralee Hughes after Mark was diagnosed with brain cancer. When they realised how underfunded brain cancer research was in Australia, they decided to do something about it.
What started as a simple local fundraiser has grown into one of the country's most recognised charity campaigns. The Beanie for Brain Cancer initiative now sees more than one million beanies sold nationally, including an annual Beanie Round with the NRL.
To date, MHF has raised over $40 million, funding a Brain Cancer Biobank, travel grants, multiple research projects across Australia, fellowships, PhDs, and Brain Cancer Care Coordinators in rural and regional NSW. In 2022, MHF announced the $25 million Brain Cancer Research Centre at the University of Newcastle, a major step forward for brain cancer research in Australia.
MHF is a very small organisation that runs mostly on the generosity of our supporters and some community grants which allows them to keep the running costs to a bare minimum so that one day, maybe in our lifetime, together a cure for brain cancer will be found.
YOUR NEW JOB
With a dedicated team delivering events, campaigns, and fundraising initiatives year-round, MHF is now looking for someone to join their admin team and help keep the day-to-day running smoothly. As the Administrator, your days may include:
* General administration, filing, and data entry
* Supporting social media and communications
* Helping coordinate events and campaigns
* Attending charity events from time to time
* Being the calm, organised person the team relies on
This is a part-time role, but during peak periods you may be needed 3–4 days per week. Busy times usually fall between May and August, covering Beanie Day season and the annual MHF Ball.
