About the Role
This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of fixed asset management and play a key part in driving process improvement and efficiency across the finance function. Reporting to a senior leader in the finance team, this role is responsible for the management and oversight of fixed asset registers, capital project governance, and associated reporting. You'll support the wider finance team in achieving their operational goals and targets, contribute to broader finance projects, and mentor and provide guidance to junior team members as needed.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and maintain fixed asset registers (including maintaining, managing, amending, retiring)
* Prepare and execute all end-of-month reporting and activities relating to fixed assets
* Review work-in-progress and ensure accurate capitalisation
* Identify continuous improvement opportunities for process improvements and system efficiencies relating to both the Fixed Asset Register and the wider finance team operations
* Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to support asset governance
* Share knowledge, provide education and training to non-asset accounting team members to raise awareness of policy and procedure adherence
* Participate in business partnering activities to understand pain-points in asset management and develop solutions
About You
You will be a consummate professional, highly adept at stakeholder management, balancing priorities and delivering projects on time, accurately and with care.
Ideal candidate attributes and qualifications include:
* A tertiary qualification in Accounting (B.Com, Master of Professional Accounting) or similar
* High-level experience with fixed asset register management
* Strong commercial and business acumen
* High-level stakeholder management skills with the ability to manage up, down, and sideways
* Comfort liaising with internal stakeholders, including non-finance team members, and guiding them through accounting processes
* Ability to work well in a team and independently with drive and determination
* Solid experience and understanding of accounting practices and principles (AASB and/or IFRS)
Desirable
* CPA or CA or nearing completion
* Demonstrated experience in similar roles where Asset Register maintenance was a core function
* Exposure to a wide range of ERP systems
