Step into a pivotal leadership role as a Clinical Nurse Consultant in Renal Services, where your expertise will shape the future of pre‐dialysis care across SWSLHD. Are You the Right Fit?

The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled and motivated nursing professional with advanced expertise in renal care, particularly in the education and management of pre‐dialysis patients. They will demonstrate strong clinical leadership, acting as an expert practitioner who fosters a culture of continual learning and evidence‐based practice across the organisation and Local Health District. This candidate will excel in delivering high‐quality consultancy services to patients, carers and multidisciplinary teams, while maintaining and coordinating renal policies to support best‐practice standards.

They will thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with the Director of Renal Medicine, medical staff, Professors of Nursing, allied health and community providers to drive research initiatives that enhance patient outcomes. With exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, they will work in partnership with nursing leaders and educators to identify workforce development needs and implement effective educational strategies. The ideal candidate will also contribute to service planning, quality improvement and strategic priorities, supporting the ongoing excellence of Renal Services at both organisational and district levels.

Selection Criteria

* Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
* At least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience and in addition who has approved post registration nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to the field in which they are appointed, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate.
* Demonstrated ability to apply expert knowledge to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive.
* Expertise or excellent understanding of renal replacement therapeutic options based on clinical need.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs.
* Demonstrated knowledge of and/or experience in initiating and implementing changes to improve clinical service delivery and outcomes through enhanced models of care, evidence based practice, practice development, and the Essentials of Care Program.
* Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment, with a willingness to travel across facilities. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
