Overview
The Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Group has been established to deliver a sovereign, integrated approach to Australia\'s guided weapons and explosive ordnance capability across the Australian Defence Force. The GWEO Manufacturing Division supports the Government\'s priority to uplift domestic manufacturing capability, strengthen supply chain resilience, and contribute to allied industrial capacity. The Finance Manager will provide embedded financial management support across project stages, focusing on cost performance governance, reporting, and decision support within Defence environments.
Responsibilities
* Develop, manage, and maintain cost performance data within Defence financial systems and tools
* Establish and maintain cost models in collaboration with project stakeholders
* Conduct cost analysis, variance analysis, and performance reporting
* Produce financial briefs and decision-support material for senior stakeholders
* Maintain and develop financial artefacts to support governance and engagement
* Contribute to monthly reporting cycles, governance forums, and planning reviews
* Provide forecasting insights to support strategic decision-making
* Support risk management activities, including cost impact assessments
* Assist with milestone readiness and project governance processes
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
* Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent industry experience
* Demonstrated experience with Defence financial management frameworks, policies, and tools
* Strong understanding of Defence systems (financial, budgeting, capability delivery)
* Experience in cost performance analysis, budgeting, and reporting within Defence
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Desirable:
* CPA or post-graduate qualifications
* Experience supporting risk analysis and mitigation strategies
* Experience preparing reports, briefs, and governance documentation
* Exposure to GWEO or Defence industry capability environments
