We are looking for an energetic, degree qualified Manufacturing Engineer to implement step change improvements in cost effectiveness, quality and safety through implementation of new technology and processes in our manufacturing operations. This is full time, permanent position based at our Manufacturing plant in Derrimut (west of Melbourne). Graduates are welcome to apply!
What you’ll do all day:
1. Uses Lean manufacturing principles to develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods.
2. Utilises knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, and quality control standards.
3. Analyses and plans workforce utilisation, space requirements and workflow.
4. Design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
5. Implementation of lean manufacturing principles such as elimination of waste, FIFO, one piece flow, Kanban, continuous flow and synchronized production chains, etc.
6. Work with the Optimisation Manager to optimise manpower and equipment utilisation using tools such as standardized work sheets, balancing & levelling
7. Development of value stream maps, time studies, detailed area layouts
8. Work with the Manufacturing Technology Engineers to analyse cost benefits and evaluate business cases
9. Collaborate with global teams around product design, tools, and fixtures to ensure efficient production standardisation and methods
10. Consults with vendors to arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts.
11. Applies statistical methods to understand historical production and quality trends.
Experience:
12. Engineering degree (master, bachelor, FH/ETH or equivalent) in mechanical engineering, production/ manufacturing engineering or industrial engineering
13. Experience in the field of industrial engineering and or process planning in the production environment preferrable
14. Experience in project planning, optimization and implementation for processes, material flows, layouts, production equipment preferrable
15. Knowledge of lean manufacturing, process development and project engineering
16. Excellent conceptual and analytical competencies
17. CAD and illustrator Knowledge is an advantage
18. Statistical training and/or exposure to Six Sigma beneficial
