They are now seeking an experienced Stonemason to join their team. There are multiple positions.
About The Role
You will have the opportunity to work within a growing business, which will supply you with career progression opportunities in the long term. This is a full-time position with annual salary set between $70,000 to $80,000 plus superannuation, depending on experience.
The position is located in Springvale, Victoria and service Springvale, Victoria and surrounding area.
The Responsibilities
Your tasks will consist of:
* Read and interpret blueprints/drawings to determine the specifications and materials required for a project
* Use straightedges, rules, and staked lines in laying out a foundation or wall pattern
* Mix specified proportions of cement, sand, and water to obtain grout used in fusing stone pieces together
* Lay and align stones according to set construction plans and specifications
* Pre-cut stones and other types of building blocks in mortar to construct and repair walls, partitions, arches and other structures, and cut and shape hard and soft stone blocks and masonry slabs for the construction and renovation of stone structures and monumental masonry
* Apply and spread mortar on slabs/surfaces using a trowel
* Cut, shape, and smoothen rock materials using abrasive saw and power grinders
* Operate cranes, hoists and other lifting equipment in moving monument sections from truck bed onto the foundation
* Position construction forms or mould along the guidelines of walls
* Line mould interior with treated paper and fill with composition-stone mixture
* Construct and install prefabricated stone carvings/masonry units for buildings
* Use pick and shovel to dig trenches or holes for monument foundation
* Set and verify the vertical and horizontal alignment of structures with the aid of levels and plumb bob
* Use tucker point to smoothen mortar in order to achieve an attractive finish
* Replace defective or missing masonry units on walls or floors
* Carry out repairs on cracked or chipped stone carvings
The Requirements:
To be considered for the position you must meet the following requirements:
* At least 3 years' relevant Stonemasonry experience in a professional role
* Holds Excavator and Skid steer license (preferred)
* Have own tools to use on site
* Hold a White Card
* Ability to read technical plans
* Ability to work carefully and accurately
* Ability to work in a team and can take direction
* Able to work at heights and outdoors
* Strong work ethic and ability to work autonomously
* Proven track record of reliability - references required
* Demonstrated knowledge of the best safe work practices
