Job Summary
The project superintendent oversees daily operations on heavy civil projects, ensuring safety, schedule, budget, and quality standards are met. The ideal candidate has experience managing large projects and will play a key role in project and organizational success. This position is located on Prince of Wales Island.
Main Responsibilities
1. Supervise all daily civil construction activities in the field.
2. Manage and develop a project team, including engineers, crew leads, surveyors, operators, laborers, mechanics, and drivers.
3. Build relationships with project stakeholders such as owners, subcontractors, and utility companies.
4. Promote safety policies and foster a safety culture.
5. Ensure work quality aligns with plans and specifications.
6. Maintain project schedules, monitor costs, control scope, and manage change orders.
7. Travel to remote sites within Southeast Alaska communities as needed.
8. Work weekends and hours exceeding 60 per week.
9. Develop and mentor team members.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and policies; communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
2. Proficiency in basic computer applications and willingness to learn company software.
3. Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field with 5-7 years of experience, or 10 years of management experience in large projects or federal lands.
4. Valid driver’s license.
5. CPR/First Aid (preferred), MSHA, OSHA 10 certifications.
Physical Requirements
1. Pass drug screening and physical abilities test.
2. Ability to exert force as specified (20-50 pounds occasionally, etc.).
