As part of our commitment to fostering community resilience we are excited to offer an exceptional opportunity for a Community Recovery & Resilience Officer for a State funded position within the dynamic Southern Downs Regional Council. This role is based in either Warwick or Stanthorpe Qld, operating within the esteemed Department of Community Resilience. Hours of Work: 72.5 hours per fortnight

Pay Level: $ per fortnight, plus 12% superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading

In accordance with Council's Enterprise Agreement and the relevant Award. Pay rate dependant on relevant skills and experience.

Employment Base: Warwick or Stanthorpe, Queensland (will be negotiated with successful candidate)

Other Information: Commuter Use Vehicle available

About the Department

The Community Resilience Department is located within the Executive Services Directorate reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer. The Department plays an important role in coordinating local government response to both natural disasters and human‑caused risks to personal and community safety, resilience and recovery. The team is responsible for actively working within the community and the establishment of policies, emergency response, recovery, frameworks and business continuity plans.

The complete Key Responsibilities of this role can be found in the Position Description. These include (but are not limited to):

* Consultation with stakeholders including affected communities, businesses service organisations, industry and other local and regional agencies to focus recovery efforts in areas affected by natural disasters;
* Advocate and work with community and established community recovery committees to provide strategic thinking and future planning to deliver medium to longer term recovery initiatives that address specific and identified community needs through a community lead approach;
* Establish cooperative networks across government, non‑government and community groups that can assist community recovery and develop local resilience that will endure beyond the term of the position;
* Ensuring a coordinated and collaborative approach to disaster recovery between government departments and agencies, business/tourism representatives, preparedness, response, relief and recovery operations at a grass roots level where required

What You Will Need

To be considered for this role, you will need:

* The legal right to live and work in Australia
* A Class C (car) licence or greater is required in this role.
* Demonstrated knowledge of relevant government legislation and experience of emergency management activities, including a good understanding and the ability to work with other government authorities would be an advantage;
* Proven capacity to deliver innovative programs, projects, initiatives and services through a community led approach;
* Experience facilitating and implementing recovery, capacity building programs, mental health or similar wellbeing programs;
* Well-developed ability to build partnerships, lead, motivate and communicate with a broad range of internal and external groups and individuals;
* Demonstrated experience in high‑level project planning and implementation;
* To be able todemonstrate your competence in relation to all of the Selection Criteria as detailed in the Position Description.
