The Role of an Accounts Specialist
Simon & Schuster Australia is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Specialist to join their Finance team. This role involves managing the day-to-day accounts payable function, month-end tasks, and reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills and excellent communication abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Verify authorization for invoices and expenses
* Process invoices and expenses accurately, including coding creditor numbers and General Ledger accounts
* Address creditor and staff queries related to payments in a timely and effective manner
* Maintain reconciliation of plant costs
* Manage subrights, including communication with international publishers and diligent payment chasing
* Provide support to distribution clients through monthly reporting, account reconciliation, invoice verification, and calculation of recharges
Requirements:
* Accounting degree
* Demonstrable knowledge of the AP function
* Previous experience in AP and in the media sector (industry or audit capacity)
* Excellent organizational and communication skills
* Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, intermediate to advanced Excel skills, and experience working with accountancy software
