Key Responsibilities
This position will oversee the negotiation, establishment and management of multiple contracts related to projects.
* Identify, document and mitigate contractual and commercial risks on projects.
* Develop a pre-contract contractual and commercial position for submission with tenders.
* Negotiate and document contract terms both upstream and downstream.
* Review tenders before submission.
* Maintain and improve contract management systems and train employees in their implementation.
* Mentor contract administrators and advise project managers on contractual and commercial matters.
* Resolve large and complex contractual and commercial matters on projects.
* Participate in monthly project reviews from a contractual and commercial perspective.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Ability to work autonomously.
* Strong desire to use skills and experience to make a positive difference.
* Knowledge, desire and ability to mentor contract administration professionals at all levels.
* Tertiary qualification in construction management, engineering or similar field.
* 10 years of relevant experience in construction, preferably in the mining industry.
* Excellence in written contractual correspondence, verbal communication and negotiation at both project and executive level.
* Familiarity with project management software such as Microsoft Project and Primavera.
* Familiarity with Aconex or similar would be an advantage.
* High level of competency with MS Office software, especially Excel.
