West Daly Regional Council covers around 14,000 square kilometres and delivers essential services to the communities of Wadeye, Peppimenarti and Nganmarriyanga. Our vision is to work together to create places that are respectful, peaceful and safe, while walking alongside culture, country and people to build stronger communities.
We are currently seeking a Team Leader – Waste Services to oversee day‑to‑day waste operations in Wadeye, one of the Northern Territory's largest remote communities. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you will lead a small team, ensure safe and compliant waste services, and contribute directly to a cleaner, healthier community.
Your Role
* Reporting to the Manager Civil and Waste Services, you will:
* Supervise waste collection, sorting and disposal operations
* Ensure compliance with environmental and waste regulations
* Implement waste management plans to improve efficiency and sustainability
* Lead and support Waste Services team members
* Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability and teamwork
* Work with Council teams, contractors and community members
* Carry out other duties as required
What You'll Bring
Essential:
* Experience in a similar operational or supervisory role
* Current NT Driver's Licence (HR minimum)
* Ochre Card / Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain)
* National Criminal History Check (or ability to obtain)
* Good organisational, communication and leadership skills
* Strong understanding of Work Health & Safety
Desirable:
* Qualifications in waste management, environmental science, business management or similar
* Experience working in remote or regional environments
