 
        
        OverviewAs a Systems Technician based at HMAS Watson, you'll play a key role in maintaining and supporting advanced training systems for the Navy. 
Working closely with a collaborative team, you'll ensure operational readiness by maintaining simulator systems, diagnosing technical faults, and contributing to compliance standards.ResponsibilitiesSupporting the Bridge Simulator and other advanced training systemsCarrying out preventative and corrective maintenance on training systemsUpdating Asset and Task management data on the Maintenance Management SystemDiagnosing faults in training systems, networks, and audiovisual equipmentReporting system availability to Training Staff and Technical LeadEnsuring network configuration control across all training systemsProviding onsite support to other remote sitesTo Be Successful In This Role You'll HaveDegree or Diploma qualified in an IT discipline or Electrical Engineering backgroundPrevious work experience within a Defence environment is preferred however not essentialExperience with Fault diagnosis of training systems, information systems, training networks and audio-visual equipment will be viewed favourablyFlexible with availability with shifts covering 5am to midnight Monday to FridayExcellent organisational and time management skills, including the ability to show initiative and work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environmentCurrent and valid Driver's Licence is Essential to meet the travel requirements of the roleApplicants must be Australian Citizens and meet eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain appropriate Defence Security clearancesStrong problem-solving skills, along with an ability to work autonomously as well as working as a teamExperience With The Following Is Essential5 Years experience in: PC hardware maintenanceMS Windows desktop administrationNetworking basics – configuration and diagnosisExperience With The Following Will Be Highly DesirableA recognised qualification in IT System AdministrationCCNA or similarReal-time simulation training systemsSystem Backups and RestorationMS Server AdministrationMS Windows security configurationUbuntu Desktop AdministrationNetworking - Switching and RoutingActive Directory - Domain Configuration BasicsCabling ManagementVMWare Basics – Configuration and ManagementHyper-V Basics - Configuration and ManagementBIOS ModificationThis is a position of trust and responsibility and to support this we will conduct a thorough probity assessment, which includes national police check as an essential selection component for this role.Are you ready to do important work that really matters?
