Payroll Officer (Junior)

We are currently seeking a Payroll Officer to join our team on a full-time, onsite basis. About the Role
As a Payroll Officer at Lynch Group, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, time and attendance management, and compliance with relevant legislation and enterprise agreements. This role plays a pivotal part in delivering a high-quality payroll service while supporting the National Payroll Manager and the wider business.
Key Areas of Accountability
* Prepare and validate weekly timesheets, including data manipulation and reporting within the Ready Workforce powered by Zambion system.
* Accurately interpret Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements to ensure correct remuneration.
* Process manual time adjustments, allowances, and leave entitlements as needed.
* Respond to and resolve payroll-related queries promptly and professionally, demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Payroll Processing
* Conduct end-to-end weekly payroll processing, including Ready Workforce data downloads and adjustments.
* Ensure timely distribution of payslips and accurate processing of E-payments, including employee terminations.
* Maintain the confidentiality and integrity of payroll data and systems.
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and internal policies.
* Support payroll system upgrades through testing and implementation.
* Prepare accurate payroll data and reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
* Manage payroll deductions and ensure timely remittance to appropriate authorities.
* Assist with end-of-financial-year reconciliations and Single Touch Payroll (STP) submissions.
Reconciliations & Reporting
* Support month-end and year-end reconciliation processes.
* Reconcile general ledger payroll accounts and resolve any variances.
* Produce timely and accurate payroll reports and analyses to inform decision-making for key stakeholders.
General Responsibilities
* Be available and responsive during regular business hours and seasonal operational peaks (e.g., Mother's Day, Easter, Christmas, Valentine's Day).
* Promote and uphold standards in safety, quality, environmental, and compliance performance.
* Maintain awareness of and adherence to ISO 9001, HACCP, SQF, HARPS, and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements.
Skills & Experience
* A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar payroll position.
* Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, tax requirements, and compliance obligations.
* Proven experience interpreting and applying Enterprise Agreements and Modern Awards.
* Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
* Ability to prioritise, manage multiple tasks, and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with stakeholders at all levels in a professional manner.
* Demonstrated customer service orientation and problem-solving ability.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
* Experience with Ready Workforce or similar payroll/time and attendance systems preferred.
* A collaborative team player with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
