We are currently seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join our team. This is a permanent and full-time position based in Brisbane.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer you will provide high quality financial stewardship, accounting, and performance reporting for St Barbara Mining and its shareholders. The role delivers financial and management reporting, ensures compliance with Shareholder Agreement reporting requirements, and oversees cash management and funding obligations, and provides financial insights to support operational and strategic decision‐making for the St Barbara Mining leadership team and both shareholders.
The opportunity
* Preparing the consolidated financial results for the St Barbara Mining Group, including elimination entries and supporting schedules and stand‐alone accounts for its wholly owned subsidiaries.
* Leading the month‐end process to produce accurate and timely performance and financial reporting for the St Barbara Mining leadership team that informs value adding decision making.
* Prepare and review management reporting including variance analysis, unit cost review and operational insights.
* Lead the month‐end process to produce accurate and timely performance and financial reporting for the St Barbara Mining leadership team that informs value adding decision making.
* Preparing and reviewing management reporting including variance analysis, unit cost review and operational insights.
* Preparing monthly financial and performance reporting packs for Shareholders, including detailed commentary on performance, variances, operational drivers, risks and opportunities.
* Ensuring reporting fully complies with the Shareholder Agreement, including approved accounting frameworks and cost allocation methodologies. Provide clear insights and analysis to support informed decision‐making by Shareholders.
* Managing the Company's cash management and liquidity position, ensuring sufficient funding for operations.
* Preparing cash calls to Shareholders, ensuring funding requests are prepared in accordance with Shareholder agreements.
* Tracking and maintaining intercompany and loan balances, including calculating and recording interest in accordance with relevant loan agreements.
* Ensuring accurate accounting for funding transactions, loan movements, and interest accruals.
* Consolidating and review budgets and forecasts across the St Barbara Mining Group, ensuring assumptions are robust and aligned with operational plans and strategic objectives.
* Managing and mentoring Accountant.

We would love to hear from you if you have:
* Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business.
* CA/CPA Qualification.
* Strong financial stewardship capability within a joint venture or multi‐stakeholder ownership environment, including understanding of shareholder/joint venture agreements and associated reporting, governance and cost allocation requirements.
* Experience preparing consolidated financial statements, including elimination entries, intercompany reconciliations and accounting for intercompany loans, funding arrangements and interest calculations.
* Demonstrated capability in management accounting for operational mining environments, including variance analysis, unit cost review, performance insights and linking operational drivers to financial outcomes.
* Proven ability to lead and oversee month‐end processes in a lean finance team, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with internal and shareholder reporting frameworks.
* Treasury and cashflow management experience, including liquidity planning, cash call preparation and alignment of cashflow forecasts to shareholder funding arrangements.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to provide clear insights and respond effectively to shareholder, auditor and operational queries.
* High energy and resilience with demonstrated capacity to deliver under pressure.
* Demonstrated high level of computer literacy, with advanced capability in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Adobe.
