Locomotive / Rollingstock Reliability SpecialistWe are currently seeking an experienced Reliability Specialist to optimise the safety, reliability and cost-effectiveness of Aurizon's locomotive fleet through strong analytical capability, structured problem-solving, technical leadership, and data-driven decision-making.You will play a key role in identifying failure trends, eliminating defects, improving maintenance strategies, and supporting long-term asset performance across a high-complexity railway operation.About the role:Champion a safety culture that promotes, creates and maintains a safe approach in all aspects of the operationAnalyse failure trends, undertake investigations, review maintenance activities and make recommendationsWork with relevant teams to ensure all locomotives and components maintain 100% compliance with the safety management system (SMS)Lead and support defect elimination initiatives and Root Cause Analysis investigations across the locomotive fleetSetting locomotive availability and reliability targets for various locomotive classes by operating corridor/systemEvaluate and optimise locomotive maintenance inspection intervals and work package content, reducing maintenance time and increasing availabilityImplement locomotive and component reliability programsDevelop locomotive and locomotive component statistical reliability models and troubleshooting treesWork with Planning teams and Leadership to ensure the existence of one maintenance planProvide frontline information and input to relevant team as relates to warranty and insurance mattersProvide recommendations regarding upgrade of systems or components on locomotives to meet reliability and availability targetsHere is what you will need to succeed in your new role:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering or a related engineering disciplineCurrent Class C Drivers Licence (essential)Extensive experience conducting Root Cause Analysis and defect elimination investigations in a rail, mining or heavy industry environmentHigh level of skill in undertaking investigations, rollingstock testing, fault analysis, problem solving, trial modifications, rollingstock operation, reliability and maintenance and fault and failure interpretation and diagnosticsInterpersonal, written and oral communication skills in an autonomous work environmentSound knowledge of the Workplace Health and Safety Act and relevant Aurizon policies and proceduresDemonstrated experience in developing and continuously improving maintenance processes, strategies, scopes of work and modifications to improve rollingstock safety, performance, reliability and costAnalytical and conceptual skills as applied to the recognition of problems, problem solving,Ability to analyse data and drawing logical conclusions relating to a rollingstock maintenance and repair environmentQualifications or certification in Reliability Engineering or Asset Management would be highly regardedWhat we offer you:At Aurizon, we support the development and growth of our employees.
