About the Role:
Our Hastings Deering team are currently seeking an additional Leading Hand to support ongoing work, maintain leadership vs resource ratio and provide quality leadership to ongoing works and staff in our Undercarriage Rebuild Centre.
Take the next step in your career with this rare opportunity for a leadership position working an afternoon, Monday to Friday shift. Reporting to the Foreman, the primary focus of this role is to drive and deliver safety, productivity, and quality, through team leadership, to ensure our customers receive the best quality product and service.
In this role, your key responsibilities will include:
* Provide active leadership to employees to improve safety, performance and deliver on customer expectations.
* Ensure all team members are working towards No Harm, through Safety interactions and proactive hazard reporting.
* Lead a team in execution of planned work as per work schedule.
* Provide guidance and expertise when required.
* Proactively identify job quality and efficiency risks
* Identify opportunities to increase customer value for money and assist quoting of variations to job scope.
* Lead a team in progress towards HD23 through demonstrating our values and utilising digital solutions.
* Report defects and unsatisfactory practices to help promote continuous improvement.
* Ensure adverse environment impacts are identified and sustainability measures implemented as per Company policies and procedures.
* Ensure apprentices obtain every opportunity to achieve competencies in an acceptable timeframe via on-the-job training.
About You
You will bring the following skills and experience to the role:
* Certificate III or IV in Trade Certification, Post Trade Qualifications with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience
* Demonstrate competence to show supportive and structured leadership in the workplace.
* Skills to provide high level technical advice and guidance to subordinates.
* Skills to provide a very high level of customer service, whilst ensuring customer needs are addressed.
* Competent to promote team effectiveness, communicate up and down the chain of command and inspect others work to ensure high level quality assurance.
* Maintain a high level of workplace health and safety.
* Excellent planning and organisational skills
