At Fitness Passport, we are driven by a clear purpose — to make fitness more accessible, so more people can lead active and healthier lives. Established in 2006, we're a corporate health and fitness program partnering with the public sector, corporate employers, and leading fitness facilities across Australia and New Zealand, providing members with access to a wide range of gyms and wellness resources.
As we enter an exciting new phase of growth, Fitness Passport is executing an ambitious strategy while keeping our member experience a top priority.
The Role
We're looking for a curious, commercially minded data professional to join our Data team as a Product Data Scientist (PDS). This is our most business-facing data role — you'll embed directly into a product squad, learn how that part of the business works, and use data to help it perform better.
You'll spend 60–80% of your time working alongside Product Managers, GMs, and Software Engineers within your aligned squad, while staying connected to the broader Data team. Whether it's dashboards, deep-dive analyses, experiments, or predictive models — you'll reach for whatever tool the problem needs.
Responsibilities
* Build and maintain dashboards for your aligned squad. If a dashboard is wrong, stale, or confusing you are empowered and expected to fix it.
* Take a business question, scope the analytical work, do the analysis, and deliver a clear answer.
* Write PRs for the AEs to review to enhance our shared DBT project, especially in areas closely related to your squad.
* Build models where they're useful — churn prediction, revenue forecasting, pricing analysis. Have the judgement to know when such a model will add value and when it won't.
* Act as the go-to data partner for your squad's Product Manager and GM — helping them make better decisions, faster.
* Translate commercial questions into analytical work, and translate findings back into clear recommendations.
About You
* Genuinely curious and passionate about health, wellness, and fitness.
* Solid foundation of SQL with an understanding of window functions, join logic, CTEs, and query performance.
* Python or R for statistical analysis, modelling, and reproducible analytical work.
* Data visualisation skills using a BI tool (current tool is Power BI).
* Can design and run experiments with appropriate statistical rigour — knows when results are significant and when they're noise.
* Familiar enough with dbt and Git to contribute to the shared modelling layer via PR. You don't need to be an expert, but you should feel comfortable contributing this way.
* Picks up ambiguous problems and figures them out without needing a detailed requirement specification.
* Strong commercial acumen, you connect the dots between data and revenue — understanding how your work drives real business outcomes.
Benefits
* Your very own Fitness Passport membership – access thousands of fitness facilities because we believe in what we offer.
