Located at the Services Building (G12) on the Darlington Campus Ensure continuous improvement of the Health & Safety Management System, driving compliance and a proactive safety culture at USYD Base Salary HEO8 $126,065 - $142,171 p.a. 17% superannuation About the opportunity The University of Sydney invites applications for an experienced and driven Health Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Partner - Systems and Assurance to join the Health Safety and Wellbeing team. This role offers the opportunity to provide expert guidance in cultivating a culture of continuous improvement, listening, and learning, aimed at enhancing the health, safety, and wellbeing experience across the University. Join a large, collaborative safety team where you'll play a key role in shaping and assuring health, safety, and wellbeing systems across the University. This role focuses on driving continuous improvement, governance, and assurance to support a proactive safety culture. You'll contribute to strategic initiatives and work alongside passionate professionals committed to leading health safety and wellbeing to improve our world. The successful candidate will operate under the broad direction of the Senior Manager – Systems and Governance, exercising significant autonomy in executing key responsibilities. As a subject matter expert, the Health Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Partner - Systems and Assurance role determines the approach to achieving goals and has the discretion to plan and manage work on a daily, weekly, and annual basis, including the audit schedule. This role will also be responsible for resolving complex matters within their scope and collaborating with colleagues on intricate HSW issues. Your key responsibilities will be to: develop and execute assurance programs including audits, inspections, and reviews coordinate with the HSW Partnering team and H&S Senior Specialists to ensure the timing and resourcing of audits is efficient and effective support the design, implementation, and maintenance of HSMS aligned with ISO 45001 and relevant Australian legislation ensure legislative compliance and communicate changing governance requirements work closely with leaders and staff to share leading practice and educate staff about the University’s health, safety and wellbeing requirements to foster a shared understanding and ownership act as a trusted advisor to the broader HSW PSU as well as operational teams, providing coaching and guidance on HSMS matters. As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Health Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Partner - Systems and Assurance who has: tertiary qualifications in Health and Safety or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated experience presenting to groups, facilitating workshops, and chairing meetings demonstrated knowledge of relevant Australian Safety Standards as well as relevant Safe work Australia, SafeWork NSW and Workcover publications knowledge of Risk Management practices and the application of government legislation, codes of practice and Australian standards extensive practical experience of Work Health and Safety with a demonstrated understanding of relevant legislation and policies significant experience of H&S auditing/assurance with experience gained in a large, complex, matrixed organisations certification as a Lead Auditor in OHS Management Systems ISO 45001 (desirable).
