We are excited to offer an outstanding opportunity for aLiquor Buying and Operations Manager to lead and oversee the daily operations and core range of all The Good Grocer Cellar stores.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will be responsible for managing the core product range, theEveryday Value Program, and all aspects of inventory management across 8 x The Good Grocer Cellar stores, plus 2 x liquor stores on Rottnest Island. The position plays a central role in sourcing, purchasing, and pricing products across the group, while overseeing all liquor categories and cultivating long-term supplier partnerships.
Key responsibilities include curating a compelling product offering that includes a consistent core range across all stores, as well as market-specific selections tailored to local customer needs—strengthening our position as a leading cellar destination.
In addition, the role ensures the in-store execution of the liquor offering aligns with our brand standards. This includes training and supporting Cellar Managers and their teams to deliver a high-quality, consistent customer experience.
We're looking for a retailer who is passionate about all things drink related, with a deep understanding of the liquor industry who can create and maintain a market-leading offering that serves the community while delivering an exceptional shopping experience for our customers.
Ideally, you will have a demonstrated background in a senior retail management position, with extensive liquor knowledge and experience in buying, promotional campaigns and supplier management.
This is a senior role offered on a permanentfull-time salaried position with incentive scheme.

Skills required
* Deep understanding of the liquor industry, and proven experience, preferably in the retail industry.
* A customer-first mindset with a track record of delivering exceptional liquor offerings. Experience in liquor merchandising and curating product selections that meet consumer expectations and elevate the in-store experience.
* Demonstrated negotiation and relationship building skills to support the ability to make excellent business decisions.
* Solid understanding of retail operations, merchandising principles, and financial management. Ability to interpret sales and financial data, manage pricing strategies, execute promotional campaigns, and make informed buying decisions.
* Proven ability to analyse and apply insights into consumer behaviour, market trends, and price sensitivity to guide product decisions and strategic planning.
* Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including suppliers and Team Members.
* Possession of a current Western Australian 'C' Class Driver's Licence, with the flexibility to travel as required across store locations and supplier sites.
Key Responsibilities
* Core Range – Manage and maintain a core range across all Good Grocer Cellars, ensuring a high-quality offering that reflects the brand identity, including the Cellar Selection.
* Competitive Pricing & Promotions – Lead the Everyday Value Program and in-store promotional activities. Within the framework of the group pricing strategy, establish competitive and profitable pricing across all liquor categories. Oversee buying operations for the core range to ensure commercial success.
* Supplier & Relationship Management – Develop and sustain strong relationships with suppliers to secure quality products, competitive pricing, exclusive deals, promotional opportunities, and tasting events.
* Inventory Management – Monitor and manage stock levels to ensure optimal product availability and manage discrepancies. Develop and implement ordering and stock management strategies to optimise inventory turnover, including working with The Good Grocer Distribution Centre to order and maintain inventory.
* Store & Merchandising Support – Collaborate with Store Managers, and Cellar Managers to optimise promotional execution, product presentation, and merchandising standards. Support in-store events and customer engagement initiatives to enhance the shopping experience.
* Education & Training – To design and deliver an education program for Cellar Managers and Team Members to enhance product knowledge, sales capability, and customer service excellence.
* Compliance: Ensure all Good Grocer Cellars adhere to company policies, licensing laws, safety standards, and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations
* Performance & Budget Accountability – Meet or exceed budget targets and key performance indicators, contributing to the commercial success and long-term sustainability of The Good Grocer Cellars.
* Strategic Growth & Market Insights – Analyse market data, customer trends, and competitor activity to identify opportunities for category growth and to maintain a competitive edge.
* Innovation: Stay ahead of industry trends and evolving consumer preferences. Implement innovative practices to improve operations, drive sales, and enhance customer satisfaction.
