Maintenance Mechanical Engineer
Employer: Major Gold Producer (UG & Surface Assets)
Roster: 8:6 FIFO – Perth, Darwin, Alice Springs or Brisbane
Contract: Initial 6‐month contract with potential to transition to permanent
Start: ASAP
Rates: Up to $125/hr + Super, commensurate with experience.
The Opportunity
We're partnering with a leading gold producer undergoing significant positive change and growth across site. With a flat structure evolving into a more defined hierarchy, the team is expanding and now seeking two Maintenance Mechanical Engineers to support a high‐volume portfolio of sustaining capital projects across the entire operation.
You'll work across an incredibly diverse asset base — from paste and crushing plants to underground services, borefields, NPI, village infrastructure, pressure vessels and a soon‐to‐be‐commissioned hoisting system. Expect plenty of autonomy, decision‐making authority and the opportunity to genuinely "own" work.

Key Responsibilities
* Deliver concept design work (consultancies engaged for CPENG/REPQ work)
* Develop scopes of work, project documentation and first‐principles engineering solutions
* Lead and support small sustaining capital projects up to ~$500k
* Mechanical specifications, safety improvements, visual ID safety checks
* Input across UG services, pumps, piping, SMP, pressure vessels, hoisting systems
* Engage multiple stakeholders – from GM to supervisors, trades and operators
* Participate in basic RCA/5 Whys (site has dedicated reliability engineers being hired separately)
What You'll Bring
* Mechanical Engineering degree
* Strong practical mining/processing experience – gold desirable, but not essential
* Nimble decision‐maker with the confidence to take ownership
* Excellent documentation and SOW writing skills
* Strong safety focus
* Collaborative and non‐combative communication style
* SAP experience beneficial but not essential
