Role Overview
The AML Governance Manager position is responsible for reinforcing an organization's Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) governance framework. This entails ensuring compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements and promoting best practices across operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide expert AML/CTF advisory support and challenge across business divisions, leveraging knowledge to drive improved outcomes.
* Lead the design, maintenance, and governance of AML/CTF frameworks, programs, and policies, fostering a culture of compliance.
* Drive the execution of comprehensive AML/CTF risk assessments, including enterprise-wide and targeted reviews, to identify and mitigate potential risks.
* Oversee and enhance compliance monitoring, assurance, and remediation activities, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
* Prepare high-quality governance and Board reporting, articulating compliance status, risks, and emerging issues in a clear and concise manner.
* Develop and deliver AML/CTF training and awareness programs across the organization, promoting a shared understanding of compliance obligations.
* Serve as a key liaison with external auditors, consultants, and other regulators, maintaining effective relationships and ensuring seamless communication.
Requirements
* A minimum of 5 years' experience in AML/CTF compliance, governance, or risk management roles, including at least 3 years in leadership positions.
* Deep understanding of AML/CTF legislation, AUSTRAC obligations, and financial crime risk management frameworks, enabling informed decision-making.
* Proven experience developing and implementing effective AML/CTF policies, standards, and assurance programs, driving compliance excellence.
* Exceptional analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, allowing for effective collaboration and issue resolution.
* Tertiary qualifications in Law, Commerce, Finance, or a related discipline (such as ACAMS certification), providing a solid foundation for compliance expertise.
