THE ROLE
As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for managing and expanding a portfolio of trade and agency accounts. Reporting to the National Sales Manager, this role blends relationship management, new business acquisition, and commercial execution. You’ll be the face of the brand within your territory - driving revenue, supporting trade partners, and identifying opportunities to grow market share.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build and maintain solid relationships with agency and trade partners
- Deliver sales performance in line with national commercial targets
- Negotiate and manage commercial agreements, incentive deals, and tactical campaigns
- Conduct sales calls, training sessions, webinars, and client presentations
- Identify and secure new trade partners to grow business opportunities
- Monitor account performance and provide market insights to support strategy
- Represent the airline at industry events, expos, and trade functions
- Collaborate with operations, ticketing, and reservations teams to ensure excellent service delivery
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Tourism or related field (preferred)
- 2+ years’ experience in sales, account management, or business development (airline/travel industry preferred)
- Strong understanding of the Australian travel market
- Experience as a General Sales Agent (GSA) (preferred)
- Proven ability to achieve sales targets and grow revenue through partnerships
- Excellent relationship management, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Commercially minded with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Highly self-motivated and comfortable working autonomously in a field-based role
