As a Rural Generalist Speech Pathologist, you'll provide assessment and intervention for adults and children experiencing communication and swallowing difficulties, supported by a collaborative multidisciplinary team and opportunities for ongoing learning and professional development.
About us: Emerald Hospital is the Central Highlands hub for acute, community and primary health care, serving a population of around 28,000 across Emerald, Blackwater, Springsure and surrounding communities. Our Allied Health Services work closely with medical, nursing and community partners to deliver safe, equitable and effective care. The Speech Pathology team provides inpatient, outpatient, community, outreach and telehealth services across the lifespan, with a strong commitment to quality, education and continuous improvement.
About the role:
Assess, diagnose and treat communication and swallowing disorders across adult and paediatric caseloads
Provide care across acute, sub‑acute, outpatient, community and outreach settings
Apply evidence‑based practice within established protocols, policies and procedures
Contribute to multidisciplinary, person‑centred care and integrated service delivery
Manage and prioritise your caseload with growing independence as experience increases
Provide supervision or observational support to students and less experienced staff
Delegate appropriate tasks to allied health assistants and participate in professional support activities
About you:
You bring sound clinical knowledge and emerging confidence across paediatric and adult speech pathology practice
You communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, families and colleagues
You enjoy working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
You value learning, supervision and opportunities to grow your rural generalist capability
You are organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities
You hold (or will soon hold) recognised speech pathology qualifications and Speech Pathology Australia membership
You are committed to safe, high‑quality care and continuous improvement
What we offer: Total remuneration value of up to $132,567 p.a. is comprised of:
An hourly rate between $43.68 – $58.59 p.h.
