We are looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer to design, build, and support high‑quality backend services and integration solutions across enterprise platforms. This role focuses on Java‑based backend development, API integration, cloud platforms, and modern CI/CD practices, supporting scalable and secure digital experiences.
You will collaborate closely with delivery teams, architects, and platform engineers to develop reliable backend systems while contributing to continuous improvement, automation, and operational excellence.
This is a permanent full‑time role based in Gadigal Country (Darling Park 2, Sydney), Naarm (Melbourne).
What You’ll Do
* Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and related frameworks.
* Build and support RESTful integrations across cloud and enterprise platforms.
* Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices to enable efficient deployments.
* Support cloud‑based and containerised workloads across AWS, Azure, and private cloud environments.
* Implement monitoring, logging, and observability to ensure system reliability and performance.
* Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to troubleshoot, enhance, and optimise backend systems.
What You’ll Bring
* Java Backend Development: Strong expertise in Java 8/11/17 with experience building RESTful APIs, microservices, and serverless applications using Spring Boot, Maven/Gradle.
* AWS Serverless & Cloud Platforms: Hands‑on experience designing and developing event‑driven architectures using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, observability and exposure to Azure, Kubernetes, and private cloud environments.
* Infrastructure as Code & CI/CD: Proven experience deploying serverless solutions using Terraform and GitHub Actions, managing multi‑environment setups, Lambda versioning, and automated CI/CD pipelines.
* Security & Compliance: Strong understanding of AWS security best practices.
* Testing, Monitoring & Optimisation: Experience with unit and integration testing (JUnit, Mockito, LocalStack, SAM CLI), structured logging, custom metrics, and tuning Lambda performance and cost.
* Integration & Configuration: Expertise in RESTful API design using Swagger/OpenAPI, API Gateways (AWS, Azure, Apigee, DataPower).
* Linux & Operations: Solid Linux expertise with experience deploying and operating Java applications, managing services, logs, monitoring system resources.
