About the team
The Infrastructure Lifecycle Planning and Performance branch works under the strategic intent of the City of Gold Coast's Corporate Plan and implements the Gold Coast City Transport Strategy 2031. This framework seeks to ensure the city has a safe and efficient transport system which is responsive to the needs of the community and supports the achievement of economic, environmental and social objectives.
The branch works closely with many delivery partners, including the City's infrastructure delivery teams and development and land use planning teams, and the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads to plan and manage the transport system as 'One Network'.
The position purpose is to assist with the planning and delivery of the 10-year capital expenditure program of road and freight infrastructure projects within the Transport Asset Planning and Management Portfolio.
About The Role
With high population growth and an uplift in investment in the city's transport system, the City of Gold Coast is seeking a transport planning professional to help deliver the City Transport Strategy 2031 and to improve the safety and reliability of the City's road network. This is an outstanding career opportunity for a civil engineer or urban planner to help shape the future transport system of the Gold Coast.
Responsibilities
The role will support the Coordinator Road Infrastructure Planning to deliver the road infrastructure capital program. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
* Assisting with early planning of road and freight transport infrastructure proposals.
* Preparing concept briefs for road infrastructure proposals.
* Assisting with options assessments and business case development.
* Undertaking corridor and intersection analysis.
* Preparing traffic analysis and undertaking transport modelling.
* Preparing and reviewing concept designs for intersection and road upgrades.
* Reviewing traffic impact assessments for development applications.
* Investigating Councillor and customer requests relating to road network safety and capacity matters.
The role provides an exciting opportunity to have a direct impact on the City-wide transport infrastructure upgrade program, delivery of new infrastructure and provide input in City Shaping projects.
We're Looking For People Who Have
This position would be perfect for a recent civil engineer or urban planner graduate who has at least two years' professional experience with traffic engineering, transport planning disciplines, and/or road design.
You are proficient in basic transport analysis tools (SIDRA, turn warrant assessments, crash analysis) and developing skills in more sophisticated transport modelling or design software (EMME, AIMSUN, AutoCAD) and are able to complete part of the above tasks with a level of autonomy.
You will be provided the opportunity to work under the mentorship of experienced municipal professionals and learn a wide range of new skills to progress your career.
