About The Opportunity
Bowral Maternity Unit provides midwifery led care to low risk women in the Wingecarribee and Wollondilly region. As a midwife your role would be providing women-centred care throughout the women's journey of pregnancy and motherhood. Currently we have established two Midwifery Antenatal and Postnatal Service (MAPS) which provides a continuity of care model for our women and families. We are continually exploring new models of care and working towards a Midwifery Group Practice (MGP).

What You'll Be Doing
The midwife is a responsible and accountable professional who works in partnership with women to give the necessary support, care and advice during pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period, to conduct births on the midwife's own responsibility and to provide care for the newborn and the infant.
This position may entail rotating through various clinical areas such as, Birthing Unit, Post/Antenatal Ward, Special Care Nursery and Antenatal Clinic.

The hospital originally opened in 1889 and has undergone significant redevelopment, with the first stage completed in December 2020. The ongoing second stage will further enhance outpatient services and include a new Aboriginal Dreaming Garden.

How To Apply

* Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Midwife with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Demonstrated high-level communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in situations where women decline care that falls outside clinical guidelines. Please provide examples of how you have used respectful, woman-centred communication to support informed decision-making, maintain trust, and uphold professional standards when a woman has chosen a care path outside recommended guidelines.
* Demonstrate ability to provide comprehensive midwifery care across the full continuum, in line with the scope of practice for Midwifery-led model of care. Describe how you maintain competence and continuity in antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care, and how you adapt your practice to meet the diverse and changing needs of women and their families across the maternity journey.
