Yarra Valley Gourmet Foods is a food manufacturing company and, for over 20 years, has focused on the development and manufacture of premium condiments. We also partner with like-minded brands to bring their gourmet ideas from concept to completion. Supplying nationally and overseas, our Yarra Valley Preserves and Mad Dog brands include jams, chutney/relish, mustards, salad dressings, mayonnaise, and sauces.

Reporting to the Production Manager, we are seeking an 2IC Production Supervisor in a hands-on role to assist in the daily manufacture of our products, overseeing and coordinating all aspects of food processes within our organisation. This role will primarily focus on ensuring efficient, consistent, and high-quality food production and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

The main responsibilities include:

* Assist in the planning, organising, and coordination of daily food production activities.

* Operate and oversee machine operators throughout the day.

* Supervise and train production staff, provide ongoing feedback, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and safety protocols.

* Collaborate with the Production Manager to establish production schedules, prioritise tasks, and allocate resources effectively.

* Monitor food production processes to ensure compliance with quality standards, including ingredient measurement, recipe adherence, and processing methods.

* Conduct regular inspections to maintain a clean and sanitary production environment, following health and safety regulations.

* Participate in product development and improvement initiatives, offering ideas and suggestions for enhancing recipes, procedures, and efficiency.

* Maintain records and documentation related to production activities, such as production reports, inventory records, and safety logs.

Skills and experience:

* 5+ years of relevant supervisory experience in the Hospitality or Food Manufacturing/Processing industry is essential.

* Proven experience and solid knowledge of HACCP, Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety and Quality Management Systems.

* Excellent organisational and time management capabilities in managing production in a fast-paced environment.

* Ability to operate autonomously, delivering measurable outcomes and drive continuous improvement.

* Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the capability to make decisions and communicate effectively across areas of accountability.

* The ability to lead, develop, engage and motivate a diverse team of kitchen staff

* Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and cleanliness.

* Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods.

* Must be able to safely lift weights between 15-25kg as part of daily production duties.

* Australian citizenship or permanent residency status is required for this position.
