Health & Safety Advisor

About the Organisation:
A leading organisation within the recycling and resource-recovery sector, this business operates a large, fully automated processing facility servicing the greater Brisbane region. With ongoing multi-million-dollar investment in advanced technology, automation and safety systems, they are positioned as one of the most modern and efficient resource-recovery operations in Australia.
Over the Christmas period, the site typically undertakes scheduled maintenance and shutdown activities, and the HSE Advisor will play a key role in supporting safe systems of work, contractor engagement and day-to-day compliance throughout this time.
About the Role:
Reporting to the HSE Manager and Operations Manager, the
HSE Advisor
will provide practical, on-the-ground safety leadership across a busy industrial site in North Brisbane. You will step in as the primary onsite safety contact during a period of paternity leave, working closely with supervisors, operators, and contractors. A full and structured handover will be provided ahead of the HSE Manager's leave in mid-December.
This role is ideal for someone experienced in fast-paced, heavy-industry environments and confident supporting shutdown, maintenance, and day-to-day operations.
Hours:
Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm
Closed:
Public holidays only (Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day)
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Providing timely and practical HSE advice across site
* Supporting and coordinating daily safety activities
* Conducting workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments
* Assisting with incident response, investigation, and reporting
* Facilitating toolbox talks and behavioural safety interactions
* Managing HSE documentation, systems, licences, and compliance records
* Supporting contractor safety management during shutdown and maintenance
* Assisting with workers' compensation and return-to-work processes
* Ensuring all safety procedures, policies, and legislative requirements are adhered to
About You:
You'll bring a proactive approach, strong communication skills, and the confidence to engage with teams at all levels across a busy operational environment.
To succeed in this role, you'll have:
* Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (minimum)
* Minimum 3 years' experience in an HSE Advisor or similar role within manufacturing, construction, waste, mining, or heavy industry
* Strong communication, coaching, and stakeholder engagement capability
* Proven experience with audits, investigations, and risk assessments
* High attention to detail and the ability to prioritise effectively
* Valid QLD Driver Licence
* (Desirable) White Card + First Aid
What's on Offer:
* Hourly-rate contract aligned to
$100,000–$120,000 + superannuation
* Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm (public holidays off only)
